  • Pennies Pints Pittsburgh B.

Full Pint Brewing Co. is an extraordinary Micro Brewery located in North Versailles, about 12 miles outside the city. It opened its doors in 2009, and never looked back. As you pull in for the first time, you may not recognize it right away (or completely miss it). But when you do find it, it's worth all the confusion. The brewery is housed in what looks like a former car repair garage. There's a certain charm to the brewery, something that's hard to put into words. But the first words that come to mind are- welcoming, authentic, and honest. It's a place where really innovative and tasty beers are created. It's a gathering place to drink those really great beers. Nothing more, nothing less. When you walk in, you enter their large pub area. The walls and floor are painted this crazy bright green color, which really warms up the industrial space. There are several long, wooden tables and benches that accommodates all those awesome Pittsburgh craft beer drinkers. The bar backing has about a gazillion stickers on it. I must say, it was rather amusing to scan through them all. You can grab a seat at the bar and have a brew (that will run you a meager 4-5 bucks) or fill up your growler to take back home with you. We recommend both, a little something for now and later. Plus, you can grab a tasty bite to eat during regular pub hours. Moving right along, there is a door to the left of the pub that will lead you to where all the magic happens-the brewery. Sean Hallisey (Cofounder and Brewer) gave us a proper tour of his place. Pretty impressive machinery, if you ask me. And all the kegs- my goodness! It's like we died and went to heaven. For those of you who also enjoy seeing where great beer is born, you're in luck. Full Pint offers brewery tours, so go online and book one for you and your friends. You will be like so kewl n'at. Currently, Full Pint has seven Year Round Brews: All In Amber TRI PA Chinookie Hobnobber Gus White Lightning Little Brown Ale They also have seven Seasonal Brews: Rye Rebellion Spruce Night of the Living Stout Festivus Perc E Bust 3-2-1 Win King Kolsch Plus, they have a Nerd's Reserve brew series. Current offering: Paw Paw Belinner Weisse. Past offerings: Magnum Red IPA, Weizen Bock Toberfest, and Yeast Common Denominator. Brewers Sean, Jake, and Barrett take turns on developing, brewing, and naming the beer. It is their own personal project and is only released when there is a little bit of flexibility in the brewing schedule. It's a great way for the brewers to expand the brewery's repertoire with a different style of beer. Plus, it gets all those creative juices goin'. An artist will always need their release....And they are true artists over there. Speaking of brewers, let's talk a little about them, shall we? First off, we have Sean Hallisey. He was our go-to guy because my mum knows his mum and she was the one who turned us onto Full Pint in the first place. Anyways, Sean started his passion for brewing in college. He explained to us that the beer available lacked flavor and ingenuity. Plus, he liked it "better than soda" so off he went brewing "in the closet" (literally). Then, Sean continued as an assistant brewer at John Harvard's Brew House in good ol' Monroeville. A few years down the road and a few titles later, he worked at Rivertowne Brewing Co. until Full Pint was ready to roll. Make sure you check out his glamour shot on the Full Pint website. Next key player, Barrett Goddard. He went to college to become a chemical engineer but the drawl to become a professional brewer overcame him. In 2001, he started brewing professionally for John Harvard's Brew House. Then, he moved down to Wild and Wonderful West Virginia Brewing Co. After a few years stint, he came back to the 'burgh to become the head brewer for Rivertowne Brewing until Full Pint was rip roarin' and ready to go. His chemical engineer background has dubbed him the "science guy" for the brewery. Good thing because there is a lot more science going on in the brewing process than meets the eye.. Last, but certainly not least, Jake Kristophel. This lad began his brewing career in 2006 at the infamous North Country Brewing Co. in Slippery Rock. He left there in 2009 to become founding partner and lead head brewer for Full Pint Brewing. Apparently, he likes tank tops, beekeeping, and following OSHA regs. You do you Jake! If you like beer and Pittsburgh, make sure you check out Full Pint Brewery in North Versailles. They are skilled at their craft and are not shy about creating delicious, full-flavored beers. Cheers to great Pittsburgh beers! Bloggers Devon and Tim from penniespintspittsburgh.c…

I love the feel of a great small brewery. They treat you like a friend not a customer and their brews offer a full range of taste from overly hoppy to more malty and everything in between. It's a little hard to find if you don't know what you're trying to find, but once you find it you will be glad you searched it out. I expect I will be disappointed when this business keeps growing and it's no longer "our little secret". But at the same point in time I'm rooting for these guys to grow their business leaps and bounds. Try the Chinookie.

It is indeed back from the road. You have to follow the road between the used car lot and the convenience store. Let's talk about food first: The pretzel bites are good, but a tad expensive. The Honey Mustard dipping sauce is crazy AMAZING. The Hop Sauce is pretty tasty too, but the Honey Mustard is just wow, wow, wow. We had the fish tacos. There is very little breading on the fish so it is not very crunchy. If you like fish, this is likely a feature :) We had the Romano PIzza and the 412. The Romano was pretty tasty. The 412 was okay. The potatoes were a little too chunky and the pork lardons were a little too thick. The Cheese Plate was perhaps the hidden gem. 3 nice chunks of cheese (a gouda, a blue cheese and something sharp), thin bread sticks, olives, and sopressata. The amusing part was when we asked what the meat was we got blank stares and "ummms" until I supplied name choice ( they had a sandwich with sopressata on it so I figured it was a likely choice). The beers were pretty tasty. I went for the Rye Rebellion and stayed for the Nerd's Reserve ;) Both are very tasty (and very different) One of my friends had the Red Rum which was tasty if a little hoppier than I like a beer. The Nerd's Reserves was a Sour Strawberry Berliner Wiess. It was tasty. It was indeed sour. I'm totally going back again :) They do have taster flights which are $10 for 6 beers.

I would happily drive the 30 minutes from Pittsburgh to visit Full Pint Brewing Company any day of the week! The brewery is located off the main road but there is a sign and it looks like the building used to be an old garage. Inside you will find a welcoming tasting room with picnic tables and a small bar. I was excited to try some of their brews I had never even heard of before (come to me, Rye Rebellion!). Pints are $5 with growlers also available. The brewers themselves are friendly people who will gladly answer any of your questions. I'm surprised there aren't more reviews but like Ben F, I also want to keep this little secret to myself. I'm seeing Full Pint around at bars more frequently and I'm glad they are getting the exposure. Support your local breweries!!

Full Pint is quickly becoming my go to beer! I'm in love with almost every selection...and if I liked IPA's I'd probably be in lurve with them all! I love the smooth Belgian taste of the White Lightning, the medium body of the All in Amber, the dark coffee flavor of the Perc E Bust and the cinnamon and vanilla flavored holiday Festivus. I absolutely love the fun artwork on the bottles too. It's one thing to create a cool logo, but it's another to have full blown artwork on each one of your bottles. I especially love the colorful Perc E Bust....you'll just have to see it to be entertained! But the really cool thing is to take a trip out to their brewery! You can get a sneak peak of the barley strong brewing process and afterward, enjoy a nice cold one, or pick up a growler to go! You can also opt into making your own pizza for a snack while you throw back a few. It may be a little bit a ways out of the city, but I assure you, it's totally worth the visit!

Full Pint is outside of Pittsburgh. They were fantastic! We just happened to be going the day Festivus was being released. -They had about 12 beers on tap and I must say just about all weren't bad at all! Their Chinookie IPA was surprisingly amazing. A fantastic IPA. Night of the Living Stout was very delicious. The TRIpa was really tasty. I really enjoyed the Festivus. All in Amber was good. And the others were all moderate but not gross. -The brewery itself is tough to find, its set back and in a garage. But once inside its got a lot of space. It was all decked out for their event so there was a good crowd. The workers were very nice and you could even go in the back and check out the brewery. -It's the little things I like in breweries and I must say the artwork on their bottles in some of the most original, fun design I've seen. -As for merch you can get a pint glass, tshirts. I brought home a mixed case which was extremely fresh, and I brought home one beer of each kind they had, and then mostly Chinookie because it was outstanding -All in all I highly recommend checking out Full Pint, it's worth the drive!!

I love local Pittsburgh beers and Full Pint does not disappoint. Shout out to the White Lightening which is my go to beer at restaurants (it is on draft at many Pittsburgh bars). I could not wait to take a trip out to the brewery and it is well worth the drive. The brewery is right off Route 30 Lincoln Highway but def. hidden. There is a small arrow on a telephone pole pointing where to turn off but this can be easily missed. The website is not super helpful (does not give hours, food menu) but they are trying to improve it. I recommend following them on Facebook for updates as the bartender told us they are trying new things to advertise. They just started Taco Monday and you can order $1 tacos. On weekdays they are open starting at 5pm and I believe noon on Saturdays (not open on Sundays). They just started serving food but do not serve on Mondays (except for the tacos) which I wished we had known before we drove out this Monday. The tap room is spacious with plenty of seats and seats at a small bar they have set up. You can sample any of their drafts and buy a full glass for $4-5. You can also buy and fill up growlers. I went with the White Lightening and my date tried the Festivus. We sampled their newest beer which will only be sold at the brewery until it runs out-the Paw Paw. It is a sour beer and my first time trying one-it was fantastic. We also tried Night of the Living Stout-super cool name but a little too dark for me. I can't wait to go back and try the food as it is made from scratch with fresh ingredients-they had flatbreads and appetizers on the menu. You can also rent out the place which I think would be fun for a birthday party.

I am a craft beer fan, so i love supporting local breweries. I had been hearing about Full Pint for a while, and finally decided to check this place out. I love the set up of this place. I'm not sure if it was originally designed for a car repair shop, or if they designed the place, but the building is a high ceiling garage like space with big bay doors. When we were there, they had all the doors open, so you could see into the brewery area, the storage area, and the serving area. The serving area has a nice bar that was custom built, and lots of tables, and I liked how the space was so open and clean. As for the beer, it is out of this world. It has a certain crafty nuance that you can tell has been worked on and cared for until it came to the right flavors. Each of the beers I tried (they'll let you sample all kinds for free) were complex flavors and excellent representations of the style they were made in. I loved their stout, and I ended up bringing home a six pack of their java beer (which has a very provocative label design). Stop by, grab a pint, test drive their brews, and make sure you get a six pack or more. You won't be disappointed and you'll be supporting a local business.

I was here a while back and had a really great time. The beer was good, staff was friendly. Everything was neat and clean. Overall a fun time without spending a small fortune.

White Lightning has been my go-to beer for a couple years, and I have been wanting to visit the Full Pint brewery for some time. When a friend's wife hosted his surprise birthday party here last Saturday, I was so excited to finally check it out! The location is right off route 30 in North Versailles. However, you could have driven by a hundred times and never noticed this place. Essentially, the location is in a grimy warehouse with a small and bumpy parking lot. Patrons hang out inside a large space with high ceilings. Thank goodness for the garage door connecting the room to the outside. It was 90 degrees on the day we were there, and by the early evening, it was cooler outside than inside. Outside of our large group of 30 or so people, the place was pretty quiet on Saturday afternoon/evening. The space is very simple, providing just the basic needs to clientele. Several high top tables and two rows of several picnic tables had plenty of room to spare. Enough about the space because the beer is why one would come here! The White Lightning tasted perfect on the hot summer day. However, if it had been any other season, I would have gone for the All In Amber. I had never tried it before, and it was positively delicious. Full Pint also provided the party attendees with a cheese appetizer and several Margherita pizzas. I was surprised that the pizzas - a very thin, crispy, flatbread style - were so delicious! I had several of the mini slices. I had a very fun time celebrating the surprise party and would enjoy returning with a group. I don't think that Full Pint offers enough food options, entertainment, or aestetically pleasing environment that I would enjoy coming here with just my husband or a smaller group, but it's definitely a fun place for a larger group to hang out. Plus, it's relatively kid friendly!

My husband and I went to Full Pint on a Groupon brewery tour ($50 for $100 value). We booked our tour in March through a pittsburgh based brewery tour. They were not knowledgeable about the facility, but were familiar with the brewery's best seller White Lightning so there was some upside. The brewery is in a modified trucking garage (2-3 bays) and the "bar" side had a 1950' s diner/gas station presence. It was not equipped for a lot of traffic (30 customers at most). The bartenders were not enthusiastic or very helpful. The beer samples were poorly marked and what type of beer they were was not communicated until 10 minutes of them being out. Sadly, the samples were only available for 40 minutes at the longest. The tour itself was informative, but one of the partners had their 6 year old son there who was loud, clingy and extremely distracting during entire tour. This just took away from the overall experience. After our tour was done we were told that the remaining samples were thrown away and we could buy beer for the reminder of the stay. The disappointment here was that the beer was offered retail prices ($6-$9) rather than a discounted brewery's price. The entire event was roughly 3 to 3.5 hours. The promotion stated food would be available, but the kitchen was under construction. The only food available to us were overpriced kettle chips.

We were in the North Versailles area to car shop. My husband remembered that Full Pint was in the area. Car shopping is definitely cause for some beer drinking. The location is up on a hill with a car dealership in the low side of the hill in front of it. It literally is a garage. There are two flower planters-one on each side of the garage door. When you walk in there are 2 pub tables, four picnic tables, and some solo seats. It's painted a bright lime green with white above that. It's very no nonsense/no frills. The beer is not outstanding as far as craft beer goes but is very solid. The White Lightening is good as well as the Chinookie. You can get a Sampler of 6 beers for $10. The menu is very small-3 appetizers, 7 pizzas, and 1 panini. We ordered an appetizer of Bruschetta and a Tuscan pizza. The Bruschetta ($6) was pretty straightforward with fresh ingredients and really good olive oil. The pizza ($10) was fresh made. It was a very thin crust with fresh ingredients. Both were delicious! It's kind of surprising being that the decor is so "garage". The food is served on Chinet paper plates. As long as it's good, I don't need fancy. I would definitely bring a group of friends and come back. Good beer, great food, casual atmosphere all make for a good experience.

This is one of those places where there are two different things to rate: the beer and the food. I like some of the beer a lot and then some I don't care for that much. Tonight almost half of their beers were catering to the American IPA craze, which was a bit much. I don't like IPAs at all, so I'm not docking any points for the IPAs, just maybe wish there was a bit more variety. I really like their White Lightning, but you can get that in most local bars with a decent draft selection. So, I skipped on that and went for a darker beer. I tried the Milk Plus, which was good for a milk stout, but it wasn't quite up to par for me. I ended up going with another stout called Irish Leprechaun I believe, which was a very nice nitro stout akin to a Guinness. With that said, we came here to try their food predominately this time and thats where it was a bit of a let down in my opinion. We started off with the soft pretzel bites, which were good, but were not very pretzel like. They were more like tiny biscuits, which you could put mustard on. Then the group of us tried a few of their spent grain pizzas. The crust was pretty good, but for the most part they weren't doing it for me. The sauce was minimal at best and the toppings could have been a bit more plentiful. All in all, I'll stick to their beer and if I need some grub, I'll head down to Rivertowne for much better pub food.

What a gem! High quality, unique craft brews made by people who obviously care about their craft. The menu may be limited in quantity, but not in quality! Try the tuscon mini-pizza! And trust the bartender's beer selection advice. The chinookie is aptly famous. And I personally loved the night of the living stout.
